DebbieandJerry
Because we usually travel with friends (and sometimes family) we try to find adjoining rooms and/or adjoining balconies. So, we usually know what room number we are in. On our earlier cruises, we just would pay for a cabin (outside and/or outside w/balcony) and "hope for the best". We stopped doing that when Marcy and James were on one end of the ship and we were on the other end. We didn't like being so far away from each other. hazelson
Pick the cabin - but on the Alaska cruise we were offered a $500 rebate if we took a cabing higher up - couldn't say no to that one!!!!! And it was a great location!
georgiapeach115
On my first two cruises we went up to the bridge during sailaway to watch the ship moving out of the harbor into the open sea. This year, my mom and I plan on enjoying sailaway on our balcony. First time we've booked a balcony, so we are looking forward to that! deb1220
Heres a question: Do you wish they would provide some sort of bio degradable safe for fish type of confetti for sail away? If they did would that CHANGE how you do sail away? That would be a great idea! I can remember watching "The Love Boat" and thinking how cool all the confetti and streamers were. I have not gone to any sail-aways but I would if they had the confetti...
deb1220
New Question: When you book your cruise, do you hope for an upgrade, or do you want to stay in the cabin you chose originally? We always book with the hope of an upgrade but have never gotten one. Probably because we always go at prime times and don't book far enough in advance. PATJUD
The 2009 CruiseCrazies cruise on the Constellation will be our first cruise to actually book a definite stateroom by number. Usually we don't know the exact number till the cruise douments are ready. Of course, we always know the category but not the exact number. KeithnRita
We've only received one upgrade. We always book a specific cabin mid-ship.

I had booked specific connecting cabins mid-ship and about a month after I had booked he managed to get an upgrade for even better connecting cabins for the same price! TheSkipper
I pick the cabin and almost always stick with it. With as many cruises we have done, we are often offered upgrades which truly do not amount to anything. Why give up my midships cabin to go up one deck and end up either forward or aft?? I check out what is on the deck above and below our stateroom and most "upgrades" would put us in a less desirable location. Once or twice we have been upgraded to a suite, but that is a different story because it was done long before we sailed and the added room size made it worthwhile.
