hazelson
I still don't like the thought of jeans in the dining room - especially at dinner. With so many options like dockers for the guys and capris and cute track suits for the gals - who need jeans?
MrsAmanda7
Although I haven't sailed on an upscale ship, I have to agree with PATJUD. I am packing now for our upcoming cruise. We're flying on American and they recently put their new luggage charges into effect. We're lucky we bought our tickets in March and are exempt from the charges. I would be much more cautious what I pack in our luggage if I had to pay for each bag. Mike's clothes and formal wear take up much more space than my clothes. However, we love to dress up for the evening. I love fashion and spend a lot of money on my clothes, shoes, etc. But, I have worn a pair of jeans to a smart/casual dinner one night on the cruise. These jeans are embroidered with sequins and beads. I dress up the outfit with a beautiful silk blouse, cute wedge shoes and an awesome handbag. In my opinion, if people don't realize I spent $200 on the jeans alone, then they should go to the buffet. Would you be offended if you saw me at a smart/casual evening at dinner? I am really curious about your opinion. I hope I didn't upset anyone at dinner by wearing this outfit to dinner one night. I didn't even really think about it until we are discussing it now. On the same hand, if I frequented an upscale cruise line, I might think differently about the smart/casual evening at dinner.
hazelson
I was talking about plain old denims - the comfy ones I wear all the time ... most likely with running shoes :o) Yours sound dressup.... and gorgeous. Can we see a photo? I also like the look of white jeans and dark black ones as well - especially on the right butt (I'm thinking Josh Duhamel here lol) Just not faded blue denims ... most of mine have paint spots on them anyway LOL
MrsAmanda7
Oh, those denim jeans. Yeah, sometimes we have to just be comfy. Anyway, here's a pic of my 2 pairs of jeans. Hope no one minds I'm throwing these into this thread. Hope the images work. I know exactly what you mean about those jeans that make men like Josh Duhamel look cute. hazelson
Wow - those are works of art - did you have them made?
MrsAmanda7
Thanks. Didn't have them made. I bought them at Cache (a store in our local mall). I like the fun stuff. Kinda like you like your hats.
jtutak
I think the new dress code is great. As long as you are neat looking its OK with me.
rogue
As long as their neat, I won't mind the dress code. Once everyone is seated, I can't see their jeans anyway.
Joanandjoe
Joey, I don't like the idea of jeans at dinner, but I think you're over reacting. Once fellow diners are sitting down, you don't see their pants anyway. If you otherwise enjoy X, why let a few slobs ruin your experience? (The people in elegant, sequin studded jeans probably won't bother you.) Ignore the people who don't dress well, if you can. The dress code on our two Regent and three Windstar cruises was a bit odd. On both lines, it was elegant casual on most nights, with a few informal nights and one formal night out of 16 nights on Regent. Although no one wore a tux on Windstar, and there were only a few tuxes on the formal night on Regent, we never saw a sloppily dressed person at dinner on either line. Most people dressed better than the dress codes at work: elegant shirts, fancy pants for women, neat pants for men. On Windstar, jackets are never required; but a lot of men wear them anyway. On Regent, men wear jackets for formal and informal nights, and they are required in the alternative restaurants (other than Portofino on the Navigator). Suzila
When we were on NCL, they made a point of saying they had to be 'nice' jeans...I took that to mean that they didn't want people wearing jeans with holes in them (you know the 'new' style the kids wear, when they buy them with holes?). My hubby wears jeans with holes in them when he works on his car. No way he'd ever wear those out of the house. I have a pair of white jeans I wear to the dining room sometimes, and I don't think anyone would notice they are jeans. To me they're just another pair of slacks. And yes, Josh Duhamel could make anything look good.
