wassuupmariposa
Good Evening everyone! Well it is a scorcher here in Mariposa! So I am dreaming about a cruise to Barcelona and Italy area. Which cruise lines would you recommend and why? I was also thinking of the Southern Caribbean. The only cruise line that I have been on is Carnival. It was fun. We had a balcony room (I don't think I'd settle for anything less now) and it was nice. Here's a bit about me and my DH, we like adventure but we also like to relax. We like to eat and drink too. We are not much into gambling. Oh well if you could let me know that would be great. Have a wonderful evening all! Dina
Joanandjoe
Windstar doesn't have balconies, but who needs them on a ship with sails? The ships are small (Wind Surf has 312 PAX, Wind Star and Wind Spirit 148 each), service is wonderful, food is much better than on the big ship lines, and the ships can get into much smaller ports than the big ships. We had wonderful B2B cruises on the Wind Surf in 2004 from Nice to Barcelona and Barcelona to Lisbon. Our review is posted in the reviews section of this board. jacketwatch
Hello. We have done the so. Carib. twice and the western Med. once. These are very different cruises. The former is of course "islandy" and pretty easy to do in terms of sight seeing. The latter is port intensive, esp. when in Rome. You will be much busier. We did a post cruise stay in Barcelona which is a treat as this is a great city. However if the so. Carib. rte. is your choice and as most of them embark from San Juan a pre or post cruise stay there is also good in its own right. SJ is very nice and the people are very friendly. It really depends on what you prefer. Both routes have quite a few cruise lines that service them so my suggestion is to first decide your rte. then look up what ships service it for the time you wish to go, then check back with your ideas. Half the fun is in the planning.
zebra
Hi there Dina. We have done Spain and Italy on both Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. Although I like them both very much, I think Celebrity has the edge. Barcelona, Rome, Florence, Tuscany, Pisa, Naples, Sorrento and the Amafi Coast and Venice are all wonderful and a MUST SEE. Which ever cruise line you choose, I'm sure you'll be totally awe struck at the difference between ancient Europe and young America. Enjoy!!!
