JoeyandDavid
I still do it but dancing for luggage tags is just not as much fun. In the words of Maxwell Smart Agent 86 "it misses by that much"
sailingrose
We've used both and either is fine. We haven't tried the paper luggage tags yet......guess I could laminate them with contact paper to the bags and it would work fine.... DebbieandJerry
The last cruise we took was the first time we had e docs. Have to admit that I really liked it. Marcy and I were on the phone as we were filling out the information. We both had our paperwork at the same time and didn't have to worry if it got lost in the mail or had to be overnight expressed (has happened to us twice in the past). As for the "paper" luggage tags: Carnival also sent us tags so we really didn't have to use the paper ones that I generated from the printer. But, we were ready with packing tape. I tried laminating them, but they didn't bend. Clear, plastic tape worked well.
zebra
PAPER!! Those awful, awful luggage tags we received on our last Carnival cruise and so cheap and nasty. You would think if you're paying over $1000 bucks for a cruise, the least they could do is send you decent luggage tags!!! Sorry for the vent. Ed, when we sailed HAL they also gave us really nice simulated leather pouches for our docs. I still use these pouches for ALL our travel... they have a special place for the passport, another pocket for airline/cruise cards and plenty of room for docs, insurance docs etc.
lashl
Jackie...I second your vent on those puny luggage tags. Our last cruise we got the paper documents. The tags were a joke. One piece of luggage got to our cabin by devine intervention, I pulled the tag off by hooking my little finger through it and "thinking" about puling it off! I sent an e-mail complaint to Carnival re: the paper baggages tags. So far no response but its been only 4 months! The main reason I liked the paper documents was to receive the good luggage tags. With Keith's post about the pouches it is now e-docs for us. Anyone have a good idea how to protect those stupid, cheap, baggage tags? I think you struck a nerve! Suzila
We had e-docs on our last NCL cruise, but they also sent us luggage tags through the mail. On our previous NCL cruise, we just printed off the luggage tags and I laminated them to make them more sturdy. I like the e-docs. I like having the documents almost as soon as I book, and not having to wait for them to arrive.
zebra
Lamination is an awesome process and very easily attainable for those who still have access to this while still in the "working world". When you retire a laminator is not high on the list of priorities for the home office - so I guess we would have to support Kinko's or similar type of store. Why can't the cruise lines give us decent luggage tags? By the hundred of thousands it probably costs them a few cents a piece. The cruise lines are sure changing the "face" of cruising... getting cheaper and cheaper on all fronts - what a huge pity!
PATJUD
I like the EDocs. I got some of those colored elastic hair bands from CVS to use on the luggage tags to attach them to suitcases and they worked great.
teacp
.........I put card stock in my printer and they are fine........You are only going to throw them out when you board anyway so what is the difference?
rogue
I also use card stock in the printer. I punch a whole in the end and use two of those round loose leaf reinforcements and a little chain. Works like a charm.
