JoeyandDavid
Everyone I am sure has heard of "Chair Hogs".. those lovely passengers that put a book or personal article on a pool side chair early in the morning then go off to do only heaven knows what tying up the chair for most of the day..Some cruise lines have instructed crew members to remove those articles after a certain time .. Have you noticed an improvement when you sail .. or are the "hogs" still being slopped?
sailingrose
Guess it depends on who's on patrol that day. I think it's better but not cured yet.
DebbieandJerry
I think the ships are also providing more chairs. But, yes, there are still "chair hogs" out there. What's really funny is how the people congregate from day one and tend to keep the same chairs/area for the entire cruise.
Shaunna
I've read up on this or seen it on other forums before I stayed put with ya'll. So... am I guessing it is right to expect if I get up and leave it it's gone? Can DH be in his chair saving mine for me at how long is this acceptable? We are not the type to leave our personal belongings on the chars for someone to steal. I just want to make sure of what is correct so I won't accidentally do anything to offend anyone. hehe

I would think that if spouse is sitting there they would have the right to save a chair for what up to two hours (you could be doing a spa thing or a beauty thing) but I would say two hours saving is acceptable.. what about others chiming in .. ?? sailingrose
Sounds about right to me. Ample time to do what you need to and then return.
deb1220
I agree, Joey.... as my DH and I have done this for each other. On my last cruise (AOS) there were many people that would leave their towels on their chairs but the pool staff was pretty diligent about removing them after 30 minutes (the ship's rules). I saw some disappointed faces when people would come back to find someone else in "their" chair
rogue
I've also seen a few angry people come back to find that they lost their chairs. On our last cruise I saw two people almost go to blows over it. One thought that the other took their things off the chair and just took it. As it turned out, one of the pool staff did it and the other person just came along and took the empty chairs. I do like Joey's idea. Shaunna
With tempers like that and it obviously being a big thing the clarification helps. Thanks for starting this topic Joey.
lashl
That sounds about right to me Joey. I didn't know the ships were doing that now. Will see what happens in Sept.
