JoeyandDavid
When traveling towards an embarkation port or returning from a cruise home .. has the Airlines or cruise line for that matter ever lost a piece of your luggage?
DebbieandJerry
We've had luggage sitting on the tarmac in Houston during a thunderstorm before cruising. Needless to say, everything was soaking wet, moldy, stinky, etc., etc. In my bathrobe, I marched all of the luggage to the Purser's desk who arranged for each item to be laundered and/or dry cleaned. Because we had booked the air with the cruiseline, the ship paid for everything. Certainly not the ship's fault, but they came through! Down side, took 3 days before we had all of our clothes back. On another trip, the flight from LA to Tucson (United after flying from Honolulu to LA) was cancelled. We were re-routed some 12 hours later. Luggage never made it back to Tucson until the next day. This was certainly not the ship's fault.
rogue
On our 1st cruise to Alaska, we had to run to catch a conneting flight from Toronto to Vancouver. We knew that our luggage wouldn't make it, and, sure enough, it didn't. Since there were many flights from Toronto to Vancouver, we were told that the luggage would probably come in on the next flight, and it would be delivered to the ship before it sailed. Well, it did come, but wasn't brought to our cabin till about 7 PM. Needless to say, we were a bit nervous until we finally saw it in our cabin. On the return trip, our luggage didn't arrive with us either. It was dropped off at our house at about 11:00PM and luckily, we were awake or it would have stayed outside in on a rainy night. Joanandjoe
On our Windstar cruise last December, the ship lost our luggage in Barbados, but I found it. We were sailing on the Wind Surf a day after another Windstar ship was supposed to sail. Due to storms, the other ship was a day late, and many of its embarking PAX were put up in the same hotel as us. Both ships would end up sailing on the same day, and going to the same port the next day. We loaded our luggage onto the truck when we were told to do so, then boarded the ship several hours later. No luggage. While Joan took a nap, I went for a walk on the pier. As I passed a shed, I looked inside and saw our luggage. I asked when it would be loaded onto the Wind Surf. "Oh, no, sir, this luggage is for the Wind Star!" It was about to be loaded onto the other ship! Fortunately, I was able to persuade the man in the shed to pull out the luggage, which had tags matching my passport. They pulled the luggage out of the shed, wheeled it to the Wind Surf, and loaded it onto the ship. Had I not gone for a walk, our luggage would have been lost. Maybe I would have gotten it the next day, maybe not.

mercedes
This just happened in June on our cruise to Europe. Air Canada lost a piece of our luggage (the most important piece), it was not there when we arrived in Rome. We received it a week later in Athens.
