brendapap
This may be a silly question but this is my first NCL Cruise and all the other cruises I have done..... we never ate in a cover charge place. We are going to eat ate Cagneys & Le Bistros, my question is do we have to pay for our meals after we pay the cover charge or is it all included. I have heard some have extra charges and I really don't understand. If I eat at Cagneys and have soup, steak, and desert will that all be considered as my cover charge. Can you order seconds without another charge? Can someone please explain all this to me. Also are the servers getting part of the automatic gratuity being charged to our room? Any input would help Thanks

Most specialty restaurants on board cruise ships..that charge a cover charge or service charge do so to cover staff gratuities.. and yes the food is included.. and no those servers usually do not partake of the regular/standard dining room service tips..no as far as seconds go.. i don't know the answer..sorry... joey
JohnG
On NCL the steakhouse, asian/teppanyaki, Le Bistro, and Italian Trattoria require reservations, but the Trattoria does not have a cover charge. The Asian/Teppanyaki restaurants on some of the ships are ala carte pricing instead of a cover charge. The steakhouse an Bistro cover charge covers the incremental cost of eating fine dining in a specialty restaurant not offered in the main restaurants. You pay the cover charge to offset the incremental cost of dining there under those conditions. The cruise daily service fee does not go to the specialty restaurant staff, so I usually add a gratuity for my waitstaff when I sign the check.
