Cruise Food

It seems everyone love the food on cruises.. and I know some lines have produced their own "cookbook" with recipes and pictures ..

Have you ever purchased a cruise line cook book? Would you?

We never have purchased one, and probably will never do it. For one thing, we must have 50 cookbooks at home. We don't use at least 45 of them. Another would go to waste. Another reason is that we don't eat very fancy at home. We save that for a special occasion or our cruises. At least there, someone else will do all of the preparation. :biggrin:

Joan is a great cook, but, like Rogue, we already have too many cookbooks. Most of them are for low fat cooking, which is not what you'd expect in a cruise line cookbook. Not only have we never purchased a cruise line cookbook, we've been unaware that they existed. I've never seen one.

Wouldn't cook most of those recipes at home since I'm always watching Howies salt intake and cholesterol. So no we've never bought one.

I bought the Carnival cookbook back in the early 90's because I had to have the recipes for Strawberry soup and Chocolate Mousse. Have to admit that those are the only two recipes that we have used. I do use the cookbook to generate ideas, especially when I can't think about what I want to cook or eat.

I feel I'm a reasonably good cook and like Howard have about 50 cookbooks - I did look at the cookbook on the Mariner, it was stunning, but honestly I would not be doing that kind of fine dining...... but I was extremely tempted to buy the book that the Captain had written, and kicked myself when I got home for not buying it.
