Jerry has asthma and the wet air (i.e., tropics and/or rain forests) aggrevates his breathing. He has had a couple of attacks, but not severe enough to get medical attention. I bring his inhalers wherever we go. In Belize, I had to cancel his excursion at the last minute. Carnival was gracious enough to refund the entire amount. They offered to come to the stateroom and see how he was. We declined. But it was nice that the nurse on board made that offer.

Marcy got medical attention for bad bronchitis on one trip. She submitted the bill to the insurance that we had purchased. 100% reimbursed. The pills she got cured her within hours.

So all in all we had good experiences. So sorry to learn that your friends are turned off of cruising.

My husband came down with the flu (upper-respiratory) on the 3rd day of our last cruise. He didn't go to medical because he thought they would charge him too much. We still had a good time. He just slept alot.
