We just got home on Monday from our cruise aboard the Enchantment of the Seas. It was great, as usual. We really enjoy these four day get-aways. Since we live so close to the port, it's easy for us. I believe I've already written a review of the Enchantment, but after this post, I'll make sure. We've cruised the Enchantment about 6 times and we always love it. The service in the Windjammer Cafe is impeccable, better than any service we've ever gotten in the main dining room of any ship. So, we always eat our meals at the Windjammer where we can sit wherever we want, whenever we want. The floor to ceiling windows offer a tremendous view which we enjoy at every meal. The number of choices are astounding and the way the buffet is arranged, in a circle , with different stations, and the salad and soup and sushi bars totally apart, enable you to easily get to anything you want with never a line for anything. The only problem is that the food is too good and the room too enjoyable that it's difficult to stop eating, at least for us. The staff walks around constantly removing dirty dishes and offering lemonade, fruit punch , water, so you don't even have to bother getting up to get your drinks. You can also order bar drinks and sodas.

Two unusual things occured on the ship this time, that we never experienced before. On Saturday, we were told they would be shutting off all water on the ship, affecting faucets, showers and toilets, from 11 AM to 3 PM for work that had to be done. We were kind of freaked about that when we got the note on Friday night . The purser's desk said that most people would be off the ship in Cozumel for the day but that didn't make us feel better because we just get off the ship for a little while. It all turned out OK, though, because every so often the toilets would flush on their own and there was a trickle from the faucet and we were out of the cabin for most of that time, so all was well. The other weird thing was that , in the evening , we noticed about 50 small birds flying around over the pool area, illuminated by the lights. It looked beautiful, but we thought that was kind of weird. We even saw one flying around in the solarium. A crew member told us that in the morning, they find a few dead , those that can't find enough crumbs to eat and we did see one on the deck the next morning. In all our cruises, we never saw anything like that before. The crew member said that they do get these flocks of birds that stay with the ship from time to time.

The two Vegas syle shows were very good . The entertainers are extremely talented, especially the lead male singer who is only 19 years old, Omar. He blew us away. We did some dancing in the Boleros lounge , watched some karaoke , sat on our rear ends and had a very relaxing cruise. We love the Enchantment and would sail her again in a heartbeat but we heard she is moving to Panama in November. But, that's OK because she will be replaced with the Navigator, which we sailed last year and loved.

If anyone has any specific questions about the Enchantment, please don't hesitate to post your questions in the Cruising forum.

Welcome home friend. I think Greg and I are going to have break down and try Royal Caribbean one of these days. I know you were a tried and true Carnival fan until recently, so I think we need to crossover and see what all the hype is about!!!

Cheryl.... so glad to have you back with us. Do you know we also had 3 birds on the Mariner that stayed with us from St. Thomas all the way back to Port Canaveral. They also seemed to hang out at the Solarium, but every once in a while they flew around the side of the ship too. I can't imagine they wouldn't find enough to eat on a cruise ship.... can you?

Cheryl (Gregswife) Come on over girl - Royal Caribbean is fabulous, ...... in my books MUCH better than Carnival - of course I also know that this is personal taste, just give them a try, you won't be sorry.

MaryLou, Howard, Keith and Rita, Deb, Rose and Jackie, Thanks, for the welcomes back. Yeah, those of you who haven't sailed her might want to give her a try if you have that opportunity. She's not one of the largest, but we enjoy that size. She was one of those ships that they took apart and added a piece . The piece they added on the deck is beautiful for walking at night. . The Boleros lounge that was added is a Latin dance lounge where they also give dance lessons during the day.

Cheryl, I know that if you tried RCI you would be hooked like we were.

Debbie and Jerry, You certainly know how to make a girl feel good. It was my pleasure and just wish that one day we can all really sail together.
