I'm not sure my first cruise is really considered a cruise, so I'll list my first two cruises.

First was on SeaEscape out of Port Canaveral in 1987. This is a day-trip gambling boat. This was a high school band trip. Yes, they kept us out of the casino but could not manage to keep us out of the alcohol! I stayed up on deck most of the day just enjoying the view of the ocean. Loved every minute of it. I didn't know that I was hooked until a few years later when . . .

A good friend announced to me that she was going on the Fantasy with a girlfriend of hers. As soon as I heard about it, I knew I had to join them. I begged and pleaded for them to let me join them. This was in May of 1991. The ship was only 1 year old and we visited Nassau and Freeport. I was absolutely hooked!

I have been on 8 cruises since then, all Carnival. My good friend has been on several herself, different lines. We haven't sailed together since then, but someday I hope we will have the chance to.

Over the years I have been on Girls Cruises, family cruises, spouse cruises, and honeymoon cruises. They have all been WONDERFUL. The best vacations I could imagine. In about a year and a half we are planning on experiencing our first "scout cruise." My oldest daughter's Girl Scout Troop is planning a 7-day cruise for their Senior trip where they plan to deliver sporting goods to the kids of Jamaica.

Our first cruise was a 4-day out of LA to Ensenada and Catalina Island over Valentine's Day weekend, either 1987 or 1988. It was a small NCL ship (wind, star, one of them). We were hooked from the first time we stepped on to the ship. We thought we died and went to heaven.

We had a very tiny room, inside cabin, probably main deck or below. We never knew the difference so we didn't pay much attention to what was above us "or better".

Never got off the ship at Ensenada. Had a blast at Catalina Island. Loved the day at sea.

To sweeten the pot, both Jerry and I won at blackjack, enough to pay for the cruise, the airfare, the tips and the excursions AND take money home. (Maybe that's why we were hooked).

Our first cruise was aboard the Sensation. Jason was 9 and Lacey was 3. Lacey loved being in camp and Jason was enthralled with the elevators and the ship , in general.Since both of them were so busy with camp activities, Wayne and I had some time to chill, the first time in 9 years. So, we became addicted to cruising.

Our first cruise was July 2, 1995. We sailed on the Carnival Fantasy out of Port Canaveral. We had an inside cabin on Main deck. It was a 4 night cruise to the Bahamas. I remember well being in Nassau on the 4th of July. The ship spent the night in port and we were docked right next to a naval ship. It had U.S flags drapped all over the sides and they were allowing the passengers from our ship onboard to take a look. There was a fireworks display put on that night on shore - I assume it was for the military and American tourists in port. We were hooked after that first cruise and booked the next one as soon as we got home. The boys loved the teen programs -they were 13 and 14 at the time, and probably would have been up for anything that got them away from mom and dad.

Our first time was The Carnival Glory - out of Cape Canaveral - March of 2004.

I thought I would get sick - in spite of the patch. We were sailing away and I didn't even realize the boat was moving.

We stood on the balcony for a while and I was amazed at all the people that came to the dock just to watch the sailaway - so we were waving a lot :o)

We had really high waves - according to the captain and we saw lots of "green" people bouncing of the walls in the corridors - but I didn't get sick.

We were planning our next cruise that evening - after dinner

We stopped at Key West, Belize, Progresso and Cozumel.

Perfect in every way!

We were on vacation in Acapulco in 2003, and were talked into a time share venture and one of the incentives was a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise. We took it and have been hooked ever since. It was on the Carnival Holiday and we stopped at Martinique, St. Thomas, St. Marteen, Barbados, Dominica, Antigua and Tortola.

The one change would be to stop the unnecessary use of the overhead announcement system for anything other than an emergency. I really don't want to "stop, look and listen" every time I hear the chimes to be reminded that BINGO is in 15 minutes.
