mercedes
It's official: Celebrity Cruises is returning to Bermuda. Executives at the line spilled the beans on the return this weekend to travel agents and cruise writers at inaugural festivities for the new Celebrity Solstice. While details of the sailings have yet to be announced, and the voyages won't be open for booking for some time, a spokeswoman tells USA TODAY that they'll take place on the Celebrity Summit starting in April 2010. The ship will sail seven-night voyages to Bermuda out of Cape Liberty, New Jersey (near New York City). The Summit also will sail to Canada and New England in 2010, a spokeswoman says. Celebrity Cruises once was a dominant player in the Bermuda cruise market, and its voyages to the island were a top draw for cruisers living on the East Coast. But the line ended regular Bermuda cruising in 2006 as it removed smaller ships from its fleet. Only smaller ships are able to dock in Bermuda's two most popular ports, Hamilton and St. George's. The Summit will call at the former Royal Navy Dockyard, a less-convenient-for-tourists port on the West end of Bermuda far from its main towns. cruisetarp
That is really great news. We love Bermuda and the current 5 day trip is just too short. Cape Liberty is very convenient for us to sail from. Will be watching for the bookings to open

Longboysfan
Yes. You will be out at the dockyard for the time you are there. Not the most convient place to get about from. But the ferry to town and the busses get you everywhere.
