elfed
Enjoyed your review. Like you, we are not keen on anytime dining. We are stuck with this on our upcoming cruise in February. However on the Caribbean Princess we found that going early like 5-30 to 6 pm for dinner we virtually could sit anywhere. Having said that, I know many people like to eat later so space is limited. Yes, I enjoyed your review but how could you go back to Mexico???? Once was enough for us thank you.LOL Regards, James.
TheSkipper
Hi James, A cruise out of LA or San Diego is within driving distance for us. So, it is more about he cruise ship experience than the ports of call. And we have found the ports are a little different every time we go. I've always called these cruises "warm-up cruises." We use them when we cannot or do not wish to fly somewhere else to cruise. Ed
KeithnRita
Very nice review, Ed. Our only experience with anytime dining was not a good one so we stick with the assigned dining. We've done the same itinerary on our one and only Mexican Riviera cruise.
TheSkipper
Yep, Keith, we are finished with "Anytime Dining." Just checked our two cruises for next year to make sure we are confirmed for traditional dining.
zebra
Great review Ed, sorry you didn't like Anytime Dining. We have always had very good experiences with Anytime Dining and met many wonderful people. We also haven't had problems being seated at our desired time. But having said that we both also enjoy Traditional Dining... so for us it matters not! I would probably lean towards Traditional......... I was interested to hear whether the standard of food has changed on Princess - I know you have sailed on them many times before. We haven't cruised Princess for a couple of years. TheSkipper
Jackie: I think the main problem was that the ship was FULL and that screwed up the Anytime. Also their were tons of Asians traveling in large groups who tended to clog up the system. Not that they were doing anything wrong, just the size of the groups desiring to be seated together or near each other seemed to throw the system out of whack. Roe made reservations for every night. Most nights the earliest we could get in any restaurant was after 8 PM.
deb1220
Great review, Ed. Princess is our favorite line! We never had a problem with Anytime Dining but we always eat early anyway. I don't have a problem with Traditional either but for us Anytime works best! Thanks for the review. I hope to sail on the Sapphire some day
