mercedes
Yet another line, Crystal Cruises, is eliminating fuel surcharges as oil prices plummet. Following in the footsteps of a dozen lines including Carnival, Royal Caribbean and NCL, the luxury operator today announced it would no longer collect fuel surcharges for 2009 voyages. The change is effective immediately. Crystal says that passengers who already have paid fuel surcharges for voyages in 2009 will receive a shipboard credit when they take the trip. Passengers who have booked upcoming trips but not yet paid in full will have their final bill adjusted to remove the fuel surcharge. Several other luxury lines including Silversea, Regent Seven Seas and Oceania Cruises have announced plans to eliminate fuel surcharges in the past week. Royal Caribbean and NCL eliminated fuel surcharges last Friday, just a day after Carnival Corp. eliminated fuel surcharges at six company-owned brands including Carnival, Holland America, Princess and Cunard.
