zebra
What is everyone's feelings about Baked Alaska Parades, Waiters Singing and the Cruise Director's advertising etc. I'm sure there are those who love all the above and those who prefer to have a quiet elegant dinner.... Do you think this enhances the dining experience or not?
rogue
Personally, I can do without it. It always seems a bit demeaning to those who participate in it. There are plenty of other entertainment venues on the ship.
sailingrose
I agree with Howard, I enjoy a nice peaceful dinner. I did miss the baked Alaska parade when it first stopped but I'm over it! LOL
KeithnRita
We are over it, as well! We did miss Dutch Night on our last HAL cruise, however it had no singing or dancing.
zebra
I'm so glad we're not alone. It would be so nice to just be able to have an elegant dinner - with an orchestra playing in the background. That way you could also enjoy your table mates' conversation. But unfortunately, more and more I get the feeling that knowing they have a captive audience they "force feed" you their program..... lashl
We join the rest of you. Would much prefer a quite dinner with music than the same old "waiter songs". On occasion I have joined in but in my defense I was as "baked" as the Alaska!
DebbieandJerry
I have to agree with all of you, even though I do get up and dance around. Most of the time, I cannot understand a word the matre d' is saying. If I hadn't been on a cruise before, I would be, "what, what was that?" I find all of the announcements annoying, but I guess that's how they sell things!
deb1220
I go along with all of the above. I just love having a nice elegant dinner with the orchestra playing in the background and talking with your tablemates. Much more enjoyable! elfed
I too can do without all that "entertainment". Many times I have had to wait for either dessert or coffee whilst this stuff goes on. Mind you some people will say "go to the Lido Buffet then" or " eat at the speciality venues" Trouble is one never knows when the maitre'd is going to do this. On one cruise there was a "waiter show" 4 nights out of the seven. Regards, James.
boba
I, to could do without it. Although the waiters put on a good face and a good smile, they've got to get sick of doing it cruise after cruise.
