Italian actress and icon Sophia Loren named the MSC Fantasia last week in Naples, the last new cruise ship to enter service in 2008.

The 133,500-ton, 3,300-passenger Fantasia, the sixth cruise ship that Loren has named for MSC, is the line's largest ship ever built by 40%, and is also its most innovative to date.

It will feature the MSC Yacht Club, a concept similar to Norwegian Cruise Line’s Courtyard Villa, where 99 suites furnished to resemble a yacht will have their own concierge and butler service, as well as a private pool area and special entrance to the ship’s spa.

Taking a page from rival Italian line Costa Cruises, the Fantasia will feature a Formula One racing simulator, which was introduced during the inaugural ceremonies last week by Formula One driver, Jarno Trulli, who races for the Toyota team.

The Fantasia also introduces two new specialty restaurants for MSC; El Sombrero, a Tex-Mex-themed casual eatery and L'Etoile, a more upscale French restaurant.
