cruisetarp
I have written a letter and it took quite sometime but I eventually received satisfaction. We had an issue with a lost piece of luggage and when it was located it was shipped to my house COD. I wrote to the cruise line expressing my displeasure as well as pointing out several good points about the cruise. I received a "stock" reply about a month later which thanked me for my nice words and explained how the delay in departure was the fault of Immigration and not the cruise line. I had not said a word about the delay and it was obvious they had not fully read my original letter. I stewed over it for about 2 weeks and finally sat down, wrote another letter, referenced their reply which had nothing to do with my original complaint and told them I expected a better reply from them Within a week I received a call from the President's office to discuss my issue, an apology from them for mishandling the problem and a week later a follow up letter of apology and a discount coupon for our next cruise. (I did then write to them and thank them for handling my issue effeciently the second time around.) So they do pay attention if you can wait long enough. PS I also write to the cruise line after a particularly great cruise thanking them for a memorable vacation and always receive an immediate reply to those letters. sailingrose
I have written several letters to commend a ship or crew member. Usually get back the stock letter and some coupons for a discount. I have written 1 complaint letter to Carnival years ago and received a poor response.........form letter thanking me for you letter......so I wrote them again and they sent me a voucher for $300.00. No apology, nothing........sent the voucher back and haven't sailed on Carnival since.
Joanandjoe
Yes, it would be nice if we had written about a positive cruise experience, but we haven't. We've only written one letter to a cruise company after a cruise, and it's one we've mentioned many times: our awful cruise on the Celebrity Zenith to Bermuda. We sailed to Bermuda in Concierge Class on the Zenith, had so-so food and a clueless stewardess, and received none of the perks that CC is supposed to have. We called Celebrity and the online cruise agency to complain, and got no response; so we wrote. We never received a letter in response, but we did receive a cruise credit with such a limited time frame that it was impossible to use it. When we wrote again to ask for something usable, we never received a response. X did not lose us as customers due to the bad cruise: that happens sometimes, and we were, after all, sailing on the oldest ship. They lost us as customers due to their poor response to our problems. Has we gotten, for example, an apology and a small (but actually usable) cruise credit, we would have given X another chance.
