Have you ever written a letter to the home office of a cruise line?

Yes...Marc and I did write a letter to Celebrity after our Panama Canal cruise that was aborted in Acapulco when the ships pod system failed. What we went through is unbelievable so I guess they couldn't believe it either. We were very polite and also said we enjoyed the cruise before the problems. It took them about a month to send back a bland letter that gave no apology for the way we were treated or for the days of suffering we went through. It's a long story of what happened after everyone was evacuated from the ship three days early and made to fly home from Acapulco. To make it short...it was a Mess! Someone did eventually call our home but neither one of us was home. They left a message on our recorder. It pretty much said what the letter said. We decided to just let it go.

I do it all the time. Mostly its for acknowledging a job well done and to mention names of those who served us well like the waiters, cabin stewards, etc. I think they work very hard and deserve a word of recognition. A couple of times I had comments that were not so pleasant. Once was inre to a comment made by a headline performer that was in very poor taste. This was on the Carnival Destiny. We received a very nice letter and an offer of a fruit basket or something like that on our next cruise. The other time we had a probelem was on the Star princess and it was with a very rude staff member. I thought Princess handled it well. Actually I think the cruise lines keep records of your letters to them so it helps in that if you ever have a concern its like they know you a little better.

Well I know it'll be a bit late but I've been trying to get all my eggs in a basket, then lost the basket  .

I'll be writing Carnival about our last cruise on the Conquest (12/14/08). It was probibilly one of, if not the most relaxing cruise we have had (we really haven't had that many compared to some). We didn't do excursions and mainly shopped in the ports and back on the ship. Weather was good, staff was excellent, food was prepared and served very well in the dinning room. Overall a good cruise.

Later

Jim

 Actually the letter I wrote to Carnival helped enormously. That is I was trying to register with them as a past passenger but no matter what we tried they could not locate any record of our cruise 5 yrs. ago. Then I remembered about the letter I wrote and asked if that would help. Viola! They found the letter and thru it was able to trace our past passenger info and create a new passenger number.

I write on to the line after every cruise. Thanking them and sending along names of every staff person who was a great help on the cruise.

This helps them with promotions.

The main office also passes them back to the ship.

True. Several ships personnel told me the same thing, that it helps them if their name is mentioned specifically.
