TheSkipper
This press release was dated today, January 1, 2009: The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a cruise ship employee who was seen falling overboard early Thursday off Florida’s east coast. “Earlier this morning, at approximately 12:40 a.m., while the cruise ship Carnival Sensation was sailing off the coast of Vero Beach, Fla., an off-duty male crew member who was a member of the entertainment staff was seen falling overboard by six fellow crew members,” Carnival said in a statement. “The eyewitness accounts indicate that this was clearly an accidental overboard.” The crew members “immediately notified the ship’s command which immediately began search and rescue activities and contacted all appropriate authorities, including the U.S. Coast Guard,” the statement says. DebbieandJerry
Marcy and I were talking about this on Wed. We recall on the Carnival Miracle on deck 6, there are a number of areas where the railing starts and stops. You could easily slip through the opening and fall into the ocean. You think you are standing on the ledge. In reality you have nothing around you and nothing under you. Deck 6 was the deck that the ship recommended you walk around when it became too windy to walk on the top two decks. Hmmm.

DebbieandJerry
I have been searching the papers and internet for a follow up on this story and the one from the previous week (Cancun and NCL). Absolutely nothing in print!
