cruiseduo
We were excited about our cruise to the Western Caribbean on Feb 1st until we realized that we are leaving from Tamps on SUPER BOWL SUNDAY! Any suggestions on when to leave Daytona Beach to get there on time? We've never been to the Tampa cruise terminal. My Google map tells me it's about 7 miles from Raymond James Stadium. We first thought to go the night before but don't want to pay SUPER BOWL hotel rates. Help!
JoeyandDavid
superbowl kick off is scheduled for 6pm..so with that being said... i would think depending on how far you have to drive... personally i would plan on being at the pier by 11'sh or so..(boarding by 1 at the lastest right?) in order to beat the stadium traffic.. just a thought... TheSkipper
I think you will be fine. Game is on the Westshore and I doubt if SB traffic will be bad during your late morning arrival. And, I'm sure the game will be televised aboard ship.
Longboysfan
And try not to drive anywhere near the stadium. And be careful to watch out for the Pirate ship.
zebra
Hey Howard I live here in Tampa - I can help. You will be coming in on the I-4, and turning off directly to the port... .you won't be experiencing any of the Superbowl traffic - it is nowhere near where you are going. Also the Superbowl is at 6 pm and if I were you I would aim to board at 11 am. Don't forget the same amount of traffic is on the road for ANY football game at Raymond James - the stadium still seats the same amount of people, driving the same amount of vehicles... the only variation would be if you were looking for accommodation the night before - IF you can get a room, the cost would be hiked up for sure. Just drive over... leave Daytona at 8:30 and you'll be at the pier by 11.....perfect!!! Enjoy your cruise, we sailed on her April last year. TheSkipper
OK, Howard, Looks like you have the situation handled. Just remembered, my BIL and SIL are aboard the Legend as we speak. Sailed on Sunday. Forgot all about it. Later,
