mercedes
Would you pay a surcharge for late-night room service? Royal Caribbean is betting you will. Message boards at ###### and other popular cruise sites are awash with reports the mass-market line has started the new year by adding a $3.95 charge to deliver food to cabins after midnight. While common at hotels on land, room service fees are unusual in the world of cruising, where free room service long has been a highly touted amenity. mercedes
From their website: Q: Is there room service onboard? A: Room service is available onboard any time of the day or night - simply order from the room service menu located in your stateroom/suite (late night service charge applies). cruisetarp
Just one more case of the cruise lines cutting back and adding charges on top of the cutbacks.
boba
At least it's an optional surcharge. In 5 cruises, I've never ordered room service. No particular reason, just rather go get it myself.
TheSkipper
Can't remember the last time I used room service on a cruise. No big deal for us, but a sign of things to come.
coloradocruisers
What's the other end of the window? Midnight -- ??
DebbieandJerry
I, too, was thinking about midnight to when? We have used room service for an early wake up call if we had to get to an excursion by xx time and it wasn't time for a full breakfast and the continental fare just didn't cut it. Peddler
We normally only use room service for coffee in the morning. If a fee is added we can cut out the useage. Later Jim
