mercedes
Several Australian media outlets this morning are reporting that a man has been rescued after leaping from a P&O Cruises vessel sailing in the South Pacific. The online Australian says the 22-year-old passenger was plucked from the water early Tuesday after jumping from P&O Cruises' Pacific Dawn as the ship cruised about 20 miles off the island of Vanuatu. The news outlet says a staff member saw the passenger plunge into the water and quickly raised the alarm. The vessel made a quick turn-around and rescued him within 45 minutes. The Age of Australia reports the passenger has been examined by a doctor and is uninjured. The outlet quotes a passenger who said she believed the man and his friends had been partying before he jumped. The incident marks the third man-overboard case in the cruise industry in less than a month. An entertainer on the Carnival Sensation was seen falling overboard late last month, a few days after a passenger apparently jumped from the Norwegian Dawn.
