TheSkipper
Just ran across the AP release: A missing elderly couple likely fell off a Carnival Cruise ship between Long Beach and Mexico, company officials said Friday. A 90-year-old man and his 79-year-old wife were aboard the Carnival Paradise when it departed Monday from Long Beach, but they could not be found when it returned Friday morning. Miami-based Carnival said the couple's cabin door was double-locked from the inside with a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the handle. Their belongings remained inside, and the door leading from the cabin to the private balcony was unlocked. FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said the couple was last seen Tuesday night near their cabin. Gregswife
How sad. Again, I do not see how people just fall overboard and at that age, it would be difficult to climb on the railing, I would think.

deb1220
A very, very sad story indeed. One thing I found very puzzling in an online article about this is that a spokesperson from Carnival said they weren't sure if the couple disembarked in Ensenada or Catalina Island. Don't they have records of that? I mean, you get your cruise-card scanned when you exit and enter the ship. Isn't that recorded? It just seemed like a strange comment to me. Finally about 25 minutes after our scheduled departure time the announcements stopped and we left port. Hubby and I thought those people hadn't made it back yet and Carnival was thinking maybe somehow they had gotten on board without their card getting scanned and they wanted to find them before we left port or they just hadn't made it back or something to that effect... TheSkipper
I think the spokeswoman meant that "she" did not know if they had gotten off the ship at either port of call. You can bet Ship Security knew. Strange, I've not heard another word about this.
