TheSkipper
Joey, You did not like Princess, so you probably won't like Carnival. We on the other hand have not problem sailing Carnival. There food is at least as good as most other cruise lines, and in many cases better. Service, I find to be top notch. Staterooms are larger. There new comfort beds are great. And, I could go on and on. I sailed the "old" Carnival and today's Carnival is simply not the same cruise line. As to "elegance", Carnival is more hit you in the face Vegas style, baby! Their ships are not "understated."
sailinglisa
I agree with the Skipper here........................ AndI personally think the Carnival Sleep System Bed is one of the most comfortable beds in the world. Have you ever slept in on of hte Heavenly Beds that the Westin promotes? They are just as good! I love sleeping in one of those beds on Carnival.

mercedes
Joey, you know I love Carnival. We are fairly new to cruising, just started in 2003. Maybe all the boozing, children running around out of control, bad food and service stopped in 2002, because in our 8 cruises we have never experienced any of that. The food, especially on the Lido deck is excellent, very tasty and a wide variety. The Specialty restaurants are outstanding, and as Jim mentioned free ice cream, yoghurt, calzones and pizzas. We have stayed from an inside cabin to a suite and had terrific service every time. The ships are very clean, the lounge area spacious, and their entertainment, especially the lounge singers and musicians are best I have heard, and their beds are the most comfortable I have ever slept in. We have taken all of our excursions with Carnival and found their guides to be very knowledgeable, especially in Europe. The only problem I have with them is with their internet cafe, not enough computers for so many passengers. As long as they have the itineraries I want, I will continue sailing with them . Peddler
Joey; I guess it all depends on what you actually want or your perception of what you want. I for one am not hard to please. We have sailed RCL and Carnival (as seen by my sig) and my last cruise on the Conquest was the best we have had. I'm a little redneck and a little laid back, don't care to dress up, happy with chili dogs and cold beer, so you can see how easy it would be to please me. I require; A; a clean and decent size room B; a good bed C; good food (not opulant) D; good service We don't do a lot of excursions, dance till the wee hours or gamble. We just like the relaxation of being waited on and the cruise itself. So I guess it all goes back as to what you want...As Gregswife said..."If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Good luck with your decision. (I'll stick with Carnival for now)

Sunbeam
I thank you all also. I was wondering if we should consider Carnival. We've been on RCI, Celebrity, Costa and Princess. We seem to always come back to RCI in our reseaches.
foursisters
Our first cruise many years ago was on the Carnival Ecstasy it was a party cruise.. crew members not friendly if you didnt buy drinks wait staff left alot to be desired and the food as we rembered it was just so so..we have never considered them again.. My question now becomes... tell me why, we should give them another chance after 8 years?? Hey Joey, You replied to my post on RCI vs. Carnival and I appreciate it very much. You said, "if it ain't broke". You helped me make up my mind on sticking with what I'm happy with. People of mentioned prices are a bit cheaper on Carnival. When it comes to my vacation and I've chose the cheaper price, I've been disappointed more than I have been pleased. Why take the chance, once your there no changing it. I'll stick with Royal Caribbean for now. THANKS JOEY, HOPE TO SEE YOU ON A SHIP SOME DAY. I'LL BUY YOU A DRINK. TRACY

TRACY Tracy thank you.. your origional post actually what inspired this post.. here at cruise crazies we have some very knowledgable posters and i value their opinions.. many keep saying that Carnival has changed since our first cruise back some 8 years ago.. and they may have..and one day I may book with them again.. especially if cruisecrazies does an hawaii run like is being discussed..but as for now..if it aint broke... (but i got to be honest Tracy... i am beginning to hear creeks and cracks in RCL brands)
