JoeyandDavid
Speaking of London.....Any thoughts on a reasonably priced hotel (150-225 usd)that is close to where first time tourists need to be?
TheSkipper
Joey, I'll get you the name of one I've stayed at twice. Right on the Strand. You want to be near a "tube" station. The London Underground is fantastic, easy and safe. Will get you anywhere you want to go. I lived in London for two years, worked right across the street from the American Embassy. Never owned a car while there used public transport to get everywhere. When are you thinking of going??

TheSkipper
Here you go: http://www.cortalink.com/?strands It's called the Strand Palace. Great hotel and location. Directly across the street from "The Savoy". Take a look at their site, you can't go wrong.

mercedes
My DD stayed here last year and was very pleased. Here are some reviews http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g1...on_England.html Joey, if you go in June you will get a chance to celebrate the Queen’s birthday which is celebrated every year on the second Saturday in June. The Queen leaves Buckingham Palace in her horse-drawn carriage to drive down Horse Guards Parade for Trooping the Color. Probably the most spectacular annual military display in the UK. Below are some of the pictures I took when I was there in 2006. The Queen of England

TheSkipper
Joey: Her Birthday party date has been changed on a few occasions over the years. She is no Spring Chicken so she may be more than willing to delay the Trooping of the Colors.
