JoeyandDavid
On our upcomming cruise there are three fromal nights and 3 groupings of sea days ... I could be totally off base but it always appeared to me that the industry tends to have it's Formal nights on the same evenings as sea days enabling the beauty parlor and the shops on board etc to generate extra sales... Here is my question...Do you find that you spend more or less on a daily average when on-board ship during a sea day in comparsion to what you may spend when you have a day in a port of call? deb1220
Overall I think we do spend more on a sea day than when we're in port. I know I'll buy more drinks and shop on board on sea days and that can really add up fast!
rogue
I can't say it's more, but it certainly isn't less. I guess it depends on the port of call. We've spent lots of money in some, amd hardly any in others. On board, we've bought some art and some expensive souveniers, but other than that, its about the same. sailingrose
I guess it's about the same. I don't spend for the extras, hair, massages, etc often.
Longboysfan
Just about even. I do a lot of BYOB - Rum and coke - while anywhere on or off ship. But I think it was about even this past trip with spending off the boat and on the boat. The Room credit also helped in that regard.
DebbieandJerry
To add on to your narrative, Joey, not only are formal nights big money makers for the salon services, but have you noticed that the day after is when the spa services "go on sale"??? Now to answer your question, I don't spend in the salon or gift shops. There really is nothing that they have that I truly have to have. Every once in awhile, Jerry might want candy or breath mints so we'll venture to that part of the gift shop for those items. We're known to kill time looking around at the shops, but we don't buy anything. It also helps that we have no kids and no family in Tucson that we have to bring presents home to, so that makes our vacations that much more pleasant for us. elfed
Yes, I think by and large we do tend to spend more during sea days. The shops and boutiques of course are the culprits!!!LOL. Regards, James.
