If we can go then it'll be my 6th time there so we'll see what happens. My grand plan is to use our ff miles for a R/T to Dubai, stay one day there on the outgoing flight to rest up, and take a local flight to India, then stay in Dubai for a few days on the return before going home. For us going to India is all about relatives as all my wifes family is still there. Its been just over 4 yyrs. since we've been there so we're due.

Thats a sore subject. Personally I've become ill everytime I've gone expect the first time. Usually its "Delhi" belly but once it was very serious. In 1982 I got typhoid fever. By the time it really hit me we were home thank God and I required 2 wks. of hospitalization followed by many weeks to recover fully. In short one has to be very careful about what you eat and drink. Never eat street food, eat only in fine dining establishmnets like 4* or 5* hotels and medical prophylaxis is recommended, usually for malaria. Unfortunately many areas in Delhi are quite poor and thus you are exposed to poverty like you can't imagine. It just tugs at your heart and is very sad to see. The other side is that there is great richness in terms of history and culture. You will see sights here that are amazing like the Taj Mahal which I've had the privelege of seeing 4 times and am still awe struck by it. India is making great strides to improve and so much has changed in Delhi since our first trip there in 1978 that its amazing really. And do realize I'm speaking about what I've seen which is basically northern India. The south, like the state of Kerala is far different as its tropical so to say all of India is like inner city Delhi is just not accurate. I hope some day to see more of India to appreciate its diversity which is complex. For example there are 23 languages spoken in India as you go from one state to another and in Kerala the alphabet is different, like going from English to Arabic, its that different.

If you go be prepared for sights and experiences that will deeply affect you either positively or adversely, take precautions inre to your health and never go the Delhi or the northern areas in the summer. The heat is unbearable. Go in the late fall or winter.
