mercedes
Rapidly expanding MSC Cruises announced last year it had ordered two new Musica class ships from Aker Yards in France, for delivery in 2011 and 2012, pending financing. But wait. There’s word a deal for the 93,000-ton, 2,550-passenger ships was never signed. Rick Sasso, president and CEO of MSC Cruises USA, confirmed that contracts for Meraviglia ("marvelous") and Favolosa ("fabulous") are in the "revised negotiation stage." He said still to be determined is the final price, size of the vessels and delivery dates. In other words, practically everything. Sasso said an official announcement would be made "when all those matters are concluded." So stay tuned. MSC's 133,500-ton, 3,300-passenger Splendida is set for delivery early this summer.
