rogue
Our last cruise was the 1st time we tried it and loved it. we have always been very happy with the main dining room and will continue to go there, but just to treat ourselves, we'll probably do specialty dining now and then. The service and food was special.
GottaCruz
We 've never done the specialty dining. We always love the food in the dining rooms and the buffets so we never had the desire to try. We did eat in Jonny Rockets, does that count??? GottaCruz
Well, Joey, I guess the fact that DD actually sat there and ate with us made it special, at least for the first 10 minutes or so. Or was it 5 minutes?
GottaCruz
Actually, thinking back , I think it was the 50's style atmosphere that really made it special. Brings back loads of great memories of childhood times in the diner with the jukeboxes on the tables and all that. Good times.

GottaCruz
Joey, don't know if you saw the post I squeezed in above right before yours, but all I can say is that I guess things were calm enough for me to enjoy the decor. That's at least something to be grateful for. Gotta take those positives wherever I can get them . Not too fussy anymore.
JohnG
We have done it a couple times, in the supper clubs on the Carnival Spirit class ships. I like the layout with a dance floor in the middle and tables on two levels overlooking it. We also have done Le Bistro on NCL, and the specialty dining on MSC. On Oceania there is no charge for the specialty restaurants. However, in general we think the dining rooms are fine, and we are usually at a table for 2. More often than not we have not eaten in one during our cruises.
Longboysfan
I think we have done it 3 times on Celebrity Millie ships. Always a great dining expirence. Where can you get 5 star dining for $30 or so. Will get to try the Solstice specialty dining next trip.
KeithnRita
We've only been to specialty dining a couple times and have not been that impressed. We have noticed something disturbing, the dining room food is not as good since they have come in to existence. Is that intentional?
