JoeyandDavid
We've only been to specialty dining a couple times and have not been that impressed. We have noticed something disturbing, the dining room food is not as good since they have come in to existence. Is that intentional? I "think" most Specialty Dinning venues have their own kitchen and staff.. just using the premise that the quality would increase when preparing just a few meals (specialty dining) compared to enormous amount of meals(main dining room or buffet)that are prepared ..tends to make me feel this is one of those situations where with out a comparison .. a person would never realize the difference in quality texture and presentation of a meal.. rogue
We've only been to specialty dining a couple times and have not been that impressed. We have noticed something disturbing, the dining room food is not as good since they have come in to existence. Is that intentional? Even though Specialty dining is probably a money maker for the cruiselines, there are 2 reasons I can't see them shooting themselves in the foot by decreasing the quality of the food in the dining room to get people to go to Specialty Dining. First, I can't believe that the Specialty Dining areas are large enough to make an enormous profit. The cruiselines frequently say that the extra money you're paying is for gratuities to the servers. I know that there are enough skeptics out there that will believe that this is not true, but I believe that there is some truth to it. Second, most people don't do Specialty Dining while on board, and the cruiselines need repeat customers, so I can't believe that they would decrease quality for a small increase in profit. I will agree quality has gone down, but I don't think it has gone down greatly. Maybe as I get older, my taste buds don't work quite as well as they once did. rogue
I will agree quality has gone down, or Do you think our expectations to high? You may be right, Joey. I actually thought about that as I was writing my last response, and I couldn't discount it at all. Even if the quality feels like its going down, I still love the food. I honestly can't say there was one cruise that I didn't love almost all of the food.

There's the gentle rocking that you only perceive in your subconscious. The people around you are generally in a great mood, and that also works on you on a subconscious level. The subconscious feeling of having no worries at all. And, consciously you know you're on a cruise ship, so life must be good.
