Well yes and its not usual or ordinary. I collect watches and MUST have a new watch from every cruise we take. Or maybe 2. Last Feb. I bought two on our Panama canal cruise. Yes, I'm nuts. The only time I didn't get one was for Tahiti but good God they were just too expensive there.

We have bought at least one of the above suggestions including 3 watches, but we really are not knick knacky types of people so we have eventually given up on most of our port spending... now I would rather spend the money enjoying a massage or facial - Tony does like to pick up a bottle or two of good liquor/wine though.

Because the ship photographer takes much better pictures, and if the price is right, I will purchase the ship's pictures. On NCL, for instance, they had incredible pictures of the volcano erupting in Hilo. Much better than any postcard (which is another thing that I buy). So, we bought those. I have also bought the ship's pictures of the various meeting rooms, etc.

At port, I buy a postcard of where we are and another postcard that best represents that port. I am learning that these are much better photographs than any that I can take (and you can't beat the prices!)

The Mercury prices for their pictures was way out of range (starting at $19.95), so we didn't even bother.

Debbie, since we're not good about getting professional family photos done at home, we always get lots of ship's pictures of all sizes and themes. We spent at least a thousand dollars on our last cruise. The ships' photographers are good, and our kids change so fast.

WOW, Kevin. They must be happy to see you coming aboard!!

Used to do the shot glass thing. Then got into ship pins which I put on my back pack. Lately, the ships we've been on have not seemed to be stocking them. So, I guess I'm out of "must buys."

Donna simply MUST pick up a pin of the country she visits. Her back pack is covered with pins mostly of the Caribbean and provinces/states of North America. She will also buy postcards of the places we visit for cruise scrapbooks which she makes up after each trip. Personally I will pick up a ship's model from the ship's boutique.

Regards,

James.
