JoeyandDavid
OK Joey...I know you have had to been to all those ports before! what would YOU do? I think we would have canceled our cruise and taken the payoff from the travel insurance... if we didnt have the travel insurance and no plane fare ware involved I would have opt for the in store credit... if plane fares are involved ..then I DONT KNOW... may take the loss.. KeithnRita
Right now we would be perfectly happy with a seven day cruise--at sea!
coloradocruisers
here was Carnivals response: Dear Carnival Guest: We will cancel and replace the scheduled Mexican Riviera itinerary with visits to San Francisco, Victoria and Seattle on the Carnival Splendor May 3, 2009 departure. Guests that sail on this cruise will receive a $75 per person onboard credit. We know you will enjoy your cruise aboard the beautiful Carnival Splendor. However, if this itinerary change is not acceptable to you we ask that you contact as soon as possible. We will provide a future cruise credit in the amount you paid for this cruise and you can sail with us anytime prior to December 31, 2010. Please understand that refunds will not be provided. Most importantly, we are looking forward to welcoming you aboard the Carnival Splendor. The Captain, officers, staff and crew are dedicated to providing you with a fun and memorable vacation. Best Regards, I think that Carnival's offer of alternate itenerary and $75 onboard credit for already-booked passengers is a fair offer. zebra
Hey everyone - checking in from the Mariner of the Seas - we are in San Francisco today. We were the ONLY ship to dock in Mexico this week - we docked in Cabo San Lucas and ha an awesome day on land... NO traces of swine flu there! when we got back onboard we were told that the US authorities had pulled Mexico itineraries for the next 6 weeks. At such short notice and because of the size of the ship we were only able to dock in San Francisco, so the rest of the time we have had had sea days...... wonderful! I guess the California cruisers aren't too happy!! They have given us a $150 onboard credit and an afternoon of free drinks! They have also offered us the following few weeks cruises (Seattle, Victoria and San Francisco) for $300 each for inside or outside, $600 for balcony and $800 for a Junior Suite. - in place of the Mexican Riviera. The following (Mexican) booked cruises, starting from this Sunday, on RCI, get a $250 onboard credit for inside and outside, $300 for balcony and $450 for suites as well as $250 off another cruise booked with them. We are still having a fantastic cruise...... one has to see the "diamond" in the coal... right?
zebra
I forgot to mention that Carnival pulled in alongside us in Cabo and then turned around and left.... so they didn't even get to get off in Mexico at all.
DebbieandJerry
Jackie & Tony, thanks for checking in. So glad to hear that you are having a wonderful time. I have to agree that just "being at sea" would be wonderful for us as well. Certainly can't fault the cruise line or RCL. Seems like they have bent over backwards to make your vacation a great one. Come home safe and HEALTHY
