August weather in alaska

Hello! I will be sailing on the norwegian pearl on august 2nd and i was wondering what the weather is like in august. I have kids and they would like to use the waterslide on the ship. Any responces appreciated!

The weather is very hard to predict in Alaska. You will see rain. After all, you're sailing through a rain forest. It may be warm enough to go in the pool, but don't be surprised if it isn't. I hope that you have great weather.

One of my books on Alaska says the weather can be anywhere in between 40 and 80 during the summer and it can vary drastically from day to day.

When we cruised Alaska several years ago in August my kids were in the water slide and hot tubs even when we were in Glacier Bay by the glaciers. Everyone else had gloves and hats and coats....but not the teen agers.

i cruised to Alaska in August 2005. The weather was sunny when we left Seattle, but grew overcast by the next day. It was overcast with low ceilings the entire time we where in the Inside Passage. I'd definitely take a water-resistant coat and gloves.

We sailed to Alaska in July, 2004. Most of the time we had jackets, hats and gloves on.....but one day, it got up to 72....you never know.
