Hi evrybody, Hope your all doing well. I havent been on that many cruises but we have always gone whith a small group and its been alot of fun but sometimes its so hard to get everybody together. I was just wondering how you all cruised with a group, alone and the way you prefer it.

We've only sailed with small groups also, but we never tried to stay together all of the time. Some days, we only saw each other at dinner, while other days we were together most of the day. That's the great thing about a cruise. There is always something for everyone. We'll be going on a large group cruise in November (Connie Goes Crazy), and looking forward to it enormously.

Hi Bobby, welcome to C.C. In the early days of cruising, we only sailed with our 2 teenage sons. A yr. and half ago, we went on one with our 2 best friends and we had a great time, so we booked another one with them, which will be in Oct. Due to financial constraints, they are not going to be able to make that cruise, but our youngest son, who is 27, and his girlfriend, took over their booking and are going with us. We also have one booked in Jan. with a group that is about 30 couples right now, but keeps growing - that will be our first venture into a group cruise....

Most of the time we cruise alone but have done small groups in the past. Some have worked better than others. The main thing with a group is setting ground rules that not everyone has to do everything the group does. We usually would set up a meeting time each day and if you were there fine, if not fine also (usually for lunch or pre-dinner cocktails)

I am really looking forward to the CruiseCrazies group cruise in November and am sure it will be our best cruise yet.

We have done both.. with a group and without.. advantages are both...with a group you occasionally hang out with friends and do stuff when cruising alone you just vegitate a bit more.. both are excellent.. another thing about a group cruise just because you book a group cruise doesnt mean you have to do EVERYTHING with the group..

As long as folks know to be flexible in should be fine. There are times when going together is good, other times when you need time alone. If folks go with the flow so to speak it should be fine. Cheers, Larry

  • 2 weeks later...

We have cruised both ways alone and with a group. Each group experience is different but we went with a group of 12 a few years ago and had a blast. The ship not so great but the people and the fun we had made the cruise! Looking forward to our group cruise on the Connie later this year!

We have done both too - we enjoyed the fun times with a small group, but we also love cruising on our own... everything is so much more flexible not having to take others into account. You can do stuff spontaneously, which we do very often.

bobby, Most of the time we've just cruised ourselves - the four of us but we did go once with my sister in laws ,her husband and 2 kids. Another time we cruised with another family of four . The only time it really worked out well was when another couple we know booked the same cruise and we agreed in advance that we would just hook up at the midnight buffets and left it at that. I think if you go in advance with all agreeing that you can do your own things without feelings getting hurt, it works.
