GottaCruz
That dreaded lifeboat drill. Anyone want to share how you've excused yourself from going???
sailingrose
Our Cabin Steward excused us once or twice.........LOL!
GottaCruz
Rose, did you see him before the drill and tell him you weren't going or did he come in the cabin during the drill and find you there or what?
Shaunna
OMG .. our first cruise they were calling out names... LOL I'd be way to chicken. Steve really can't being a peace officer. We usually get in enough trouble getting his badge through security. We can't get caught doing too much except smuggling booze. We feel confident we can blame that on me. rogue
we've gone to all of them. They are a pain, but once it's done, sailaway begins!
Gregswife
Twice, we have hidden in the shower when the cabin steward comes around and opens the door to see if you are in there. He has never come on into the room. Once, our cabin stewardess was in our room when they announced the lifeboat drill - she had come to introduce herself and we were just talking and I mentioned how much we hated those and she said if we promised to be very quiet until it was over, she would let us pass on it. Once we sailed from San Juan at 10:00 at night. We were on our balcony when they announced it. Our balcony faced the water side and it was very dark, so we just sat there very quietly until it was over, so we have skpped out on 4 of them. I find it more enjoyable to stay in my air conditioned cabin than to put on my lifejacket and stand shoulder to shoulder with lots and lots of people... TheSkipper
we have been to all 54 of them. No big deal.
jacketwatch
On our RCI cruise last yr. they really insisted that we go. We tried to ply like we were not in the cabin but then they came in. Oh well. I suppose its good really. Last Feb. on the Island Princess there were two crew members in our cabin to straighten out the bedding (and have us sign a waiver) when they called the drill but we didn't go and they didn't seem to mind. JohnG
We have always attended and always will. I wonder if the frenchman and his daughter who drowned in the sinking of the Louis Diamond in Santorini skipped the lifeboat drill. I don't want someone who skipped it panicing in a real emergency and interfering with others. On HAL I remember they took the names of those that didn't attend and made them attend another one the next day because they knew exactly who they were. Peddler
We have made all of them ... we're usually some of the first as Kathy don't do stairs, so I grab the life jackets and meet her in the correct place...They're not bad if you have a big enough drink (or multiples).
