GottaCruz
If so, how was your experience with that?

rogue
Never have needed them yet. I hope never to need them. Besides, being a nurse, I'd have to be near death to go to a doctor.
jacketwatch
We did once, on the Tahatian Princess, and it was because my wife became ill w/ motion sickness. It actually worked out well as the med she prescribed was effective. On that cruise I think the ships med. staff was pretty busy. Two passengers had to be removed due to severe illnesses and another passenger died from a cardiac arrest. We were in a f/w facing cabin and the motion was terrible. We were lucky in that we were able to relocate to an amidships suite only because it had been vacated due to the aforementioned illness to one of the passengers. That cabin had been purchased by a New Zealand couple who had saved a long time for this trip and had planned to visit relatives in Raratonga. Well we could not tender into that port because of the rough seas and then they had to get off anyway as the man, who was in frail health to begin with became very ill. JohnG
Years back in Cozumel we rented a motor bike and took two falls. I gashed my leg under the bike in one of them. I washed it in salt water and after returning the bike, an relaxing at Carlos and Charlie's, I went back to the ship, Sun Princess, and they gave me a tetanus shot and cleaned and bandaged it so I could go to formal night. My insurance covered it. In Europe last year aboard the Summit I needed to see the Dr about meds because my BP meds were in my missing luggage for 4 days. He didn't have any in stock, but wrote me a Rx and I was able to get it filled in Dubrovnik in a pharmacy for my regular med.
KeithnRita
This is an excerpt taken from our review on the Emerald Princess, which was our last cruise: Rita did get a sore throat a couple days into the cruise so we went to the medical center one morning to get her some medicine and that experience will stay with us for a long time. The charge nurse with the British accent made Nurse Ratchet seem like a saint. This was someone who definitely did not enjoy her job! One thing about her though, she was very consistent as she was rude to everybody! Rita said the Doctor was very nice and very professional. Our insurance did cover the cost of everything as all we had to do is turn in a copy of the recept for the services and prescriptions.
