Hey Guys,

On that cruise i am on in January....I am staying 1nt Pre and Post at the Comfort Suites Airport and Cruise Port on South Federal Highway in FLL.

Do you think its worth doing an everglades boat ride? the cruise offers it but its like $63.00 USD.

When i have looked online i see Everglades tours for like $23.00 USD No transport however....

Is the Everglades really worth it? What can one do with ease from that hotel without transport?

ANY IDEAS

I'd book it independently as it would be cheaper but that's just me. I wanted to do that when I was there and will when we go back. I think it would be totally worth it but that also is just me. We really liked Florida. I can't remember why we didn't go because we were going to go out at dark because how cool is that????? Oh yeah.. money dried up. We didn't want to not have booz on the ship so something had to go..LOL. Since we were doing a day before and a day after we literally rented a car twice. We really like having our own transportation when sight seeing so it will likely be a problem if you are not going to rent a car. Maybe our Florida natives will have suggestions. We booked our car through Southwest and got a great deal. Good luck!!

If you've never seen the glades and enjoy wildlife then it's definitely worth it. The only other option for something outdoors is the beach. South Beach is a great place to enjoy the beach and the night life of South Florida, but it's a drive. . . renting a car wouldn't be a bad idea.

I personally love the glades, but for me it's more of a gator hunt / fishing expedition. This time of year, bring the insect repellent.

sounds fun, we normally just head back to the hotel and lounge around the pool for the day but a day trip like that sounds like an intersting experience. If its the same hotel we stayed in its actually pretty close to the beach area not a bad cab ride 5 miles or so. Also again if its the one we stayed in there are alot of strip malls around and plenty of food if your interested in close walking distance. Wife just checked and yes its the same hotel, gotta taco bell right next door.

We did it pre cruise almost 10 years ago when Marcy brought her kids on the Sensation with us (first time). We had a blast. Yes it's hot. Yes it's muggy. Yes it's buggy. But it was worth the trip. We're desert rats. So anything that grows in a swamp is of interest to us!

Another thing you could do is the Jungle Queen Riverboat. I'm sure they'll have info on that at your hotel. If you have an evening, you could do the Dinner Cruise at 6 Pm. It's all the ribs, chicken and shrimp you can eat with a variety show. You eat on the Tropical Isle on the New River. If time doesn't allow, you could do the 3 hour daily sightseeing cruise and 9:30 or 1:30 . They show you Millionaires Row, Indian Village, alligator exhibit , birds and Monkeys. The price of the dinner cruise is 39.95. The price for the 3 hour cruise is 17.50. I'm getting all this info from an ad I just cut out from the Sun Sentinel here in So. Florida. I'm living here many years and I'm finally getting around to doing this. You can go to the website at www.junglequeen.com. Hope this helps. Whenever we do this, I'll be sure to write it up and let you all know how it goes . It must be pretty good, as the ad says it's been a Ft. Lauderdale tradition for over 60 years.

We did the Jungle Queen Riverboat quite a few years back (8 years already??) and really enjoyed it. It was your typical event but the area was not typical at all. Loved looking at the mansions along the water, the luxury cabin cruisers that someone actually owns! Food was good as was the show. Something different to enjoy on a warm summer night. January might be quite chilly....although some might enjoy the "crisp" winter air.
