elf633
We are considering a river cruise either the Rhine or the Danube. How much scenery do you get to see while sailing on one of these cruises?. Several cruises have 6 tours included, which means you will be in port. Does the ship sail at night when you can't see much or do you have plenty of sight-seeing time during the day, excluding the tours? Do you have a preferred cruise line? If, so, which one? bowlcoach
Hi elf633 I can't help you with your questions yet, but we are going on a Viking River cruise down the Rhine next August. If you're not booked by then....stay tuned, because I'll have a review for you.
histoman
No one answered this line since 2009? What's up.
WeCruiseToo
Obviously river cruising isn’t nearly as common as ocean cruising but it is getting more popular all the time. We’ve been on four river cruises so far and can’t wait to go again! If you have any questions about river cruising, we’ll do our best to help you out. DebbieandJerry
I have a friend that goes on river cruises. She loves them because the size of the ship is so much smaller and there is always a naturalist onboard who gives great talks. She usually signs up with various university alumni tours. If I could afford Europe, etc., then I think I'd prefer river cruising because of the smaller places that the ships can get in and out of. Still saving those pennies. WeCruiseToo
We LOVE river cruising! Only about 130 passengers, fantastic service and amazing food! The views are unbelievable – beautiful scenery literally right next to the ship for the entire cruise – always something to look at. We thought the price was high at first but it includes so much: shore excursions, wine/beer/soft drinks, free wi-fi, bottled water, gourmet coffee, etc. If only the air didn’t cost so darn much…
