cruisinmama
Hi Crazies Well I did it !! we are booked for my 1st Carnival Cruise and my husbands 1st ever Cruise. I have been reading posts and reviews for days on Hotels in FLL... I picked some Hotels I thought were good and then see a new review and they post STAY AWAY from this Hotel. So I need some input from you all...I'm trying to budget now for everything. Hotel wise so far Hampton Inn seems ok, they have p/u from airport and drop off and can drop at Port. But otherwise I can't seem to narrow any other places down. We will have 1 day pre cruise and 1 day post cruise stay. I would rather not pay 200.00 a night if I can. I know you get what you pay for. Pre Cruise is not as big a deal as after flying all day getting to the Hotel and relaxing will be good. But post cruise would like a place where we can walk around and go out to eat. If they have shuttle to airport that would be great. Any ideas?? TIA
BSCorvette
We stayed in Hollywood before and after the cruise... can't remember the name of the hotel but it was a nice, safe neighborhood with lots to do and restaurants to choose from close by within a block of the hotel. Look up hotels in Hollywood, FL and good luck!
sailingrose
Ann generally the Holiday Inns & the Courtyard by Marriots are OK too. I haven't stayed near the port in a while so I have no exact recommendation. I'm sure someone else here can help more.
murr
ANN, have never stayed down there, but, any place that takes you to the port and picks you up should be considered. $200 is a lot for a night. Drink less on the ship Just kidding. Good luck. What ship and itinerary??????

cruisetarp
Ann - Congratulations on the booking. When are you sailing? I have never sailed from Ft. Lauderdale either but will in November. One of the people I am cruising with sails from there often and highly recommends the Comfort Inn Airport/Cruise Port South. It's on Stirling Rd in Hollywood Fl. I just booked it yesterday for $89. per night - shuttle from airport and to cruise port and free breakfast.

DebbieandJerry
Ann: Good going on the cruise. We frequently fly and stay in Ft Lauderdale (even if we sail out of Miami). The places are less expensive and just as nice. We have stayed in some dives and some very nice places. The last time, we stayed at the Sea Club Resort. It was directly across the street from the beach. Jerry thought it needed renovation. Marcy and I thought it was great. (James goes along with whatever.) Depending on the time of year depends on cost. Remember that lots of folks flock to So Florida from the east and midwest to avoid the long winter months. I can't imagine that you will go wrong with a Marriott or one of their chains. As Tim put it, any place that gives you transportation to the ship is worth looking in to. I don't recall any places near the port. FLL port reminds me of a military installation. Let me know what you find out. We're looking for our November cruise. DebbieandJerry
"I have never sailed from Ft. Lauderdale either but will in November." MaryLou, we're thinking of staying in Ft Lauderdale before we leave as well. We arrive 11/5 and sail 11/7. I know that your cruise (2nd one, right) is around then. Have you made your hotel plans? If so, where? Perhaps we can finally meet.
