St. Kitts is by far my favorite port on this cruise....gorgeous island and we saw monkeys in the wild. One small problem....our ship hit a mooring on the way into port and has a huge hole in the side...they are supposed to let us know soon what that means to us....

The captain just announced that we will not be leaving St. Kitts today, as scheduled....he will update us again later tonight....

Rose, Kevin and Mary Lou...please let the peeps on C.C. know that I have not been able to post on there from my BlackBerry but am getting my p.M's. This is our last port...guess we will find out soon when we will make it back home....thank God for trip insurance!!!

Wow. I hope they get home without too much of a hassle. We liked St Kitts as well. Very beautiful island. I wonder if the islanders did anything special for the extra time the ship was there? I remember we were delayed in St. Croix. The islanders put on a street fair. They had a Carnivale like atmosphere on the streets right by the dock. It was so fabulous.

News Flash:

ST. KITTS, JANUARY 29TH 2010 (CUOPM) – Port Zante officials said the Carnival Miracle departed St. Kitts for Fort Lauderdale about 8:30 Friday morning following temporary repairs to a 15-foot-long gash it sustained after colliding with a pier in St. Kitts while maneuvering to dock Thursday morning.

In a statement, Carnival Cruise Line said the repairs to the 15-foot-long by two-foot-wide tear on the ship's forward port side, adjacent to three crew cabins were completed on Friday.

Carnival Cruise Lines said that there were no injuries to passengers or crew as a result of the incident, which took place at 8:35 a.m., but that the ship would have to spend an unplanned night in St. Kitts in order to undergo repairs.

The Miracle was at its last port of call on an eight-day cruise from Fort Lauderdale. Port sources said the Panama-registered Carnival Miracle has 2,178 passengers and 914 crew on board. The Miracle's sister ship, Carnival Victory docked alongside on a scheduled visit Friday morning just before the Miracle's departure.

Thanks for the updates. I was looking in the paper for information about the "accident" and didn't see any.

Yep, some folks have all the luck in the world: Being stuck at their favorite island. Let's hope the damage was minor so that the remaining cruises aren't affected.

Tim, not to worry. Plenty of time between now and May for the captain to get the steering and docking correct.
