RayColey
I've closed the poll on music during a cruise. It ran for about three months, and here are the results: 54% prefer to hear "Easy Listening" music during the cruise. 12% prefer to hear Classical. 12% prefer to hear Jazz. 12% prefer to hear Top 40. 8% prefer to hear "Other", which includes New Age, Hip Hop, Heavy Metal, etc. 4% prefer to hear Country & Western. I think it would be interesting to find out where the places one likes the music are. Personally, I like some quiet areas where all you can hear is the wind and the waves... I don't like music I have to think about during dinner, so "Easy Listening" is good there, but in the lounges I don't like loud music - I think light jazz, easy listening and classical are good there. In the companionways I would just as soon escape the music. Now the pool deck, hmmm. Do I want to party or lounge? Soft music, loud music, no music? What do the rest of you think? coloradocruisers
Ray, the time of day might also affect my personal choice. During the daytime, by the pool, I might prefer pop or rock. At night, I would likely prefer something lighter; like standards.
deb1220
I agree with the Easy Listening in the dining room or even Classical. I don't want to hear loud music of any kind in the common areas. But, if I'm on the pool deck and in the Caribbean, I want to hear Caribbean music - Reggae, Jimmy Buffett, etc. Great question! lashl
I agree with Debbie on all counts!
DebbieandJerry
Great question. I love hearing Caribbean and Raggae music when we are in the Caribbean. I missed it during our Miracle back-to-back. There was very little pool music during the day and I can tell you that totally affected the enthusiasm (or lack thereof). I agree with what has been posted above. It depends on time of day and what lounge or room you are in. I'm not a country/western or hip/hop fan so I would not gravitate to either of those.
