sailingrose
I'm with you Marylou. I'll gladly unlock it if requested but won't leave them unlocked. Just like the announcement at the airport about unattended luggage wouldn't the same be true for cruise ports........lots of luggage would be unattended and someone could easily put a bomb in luggage. It just makes no sense.
deb1220
One time after boarding, we got a phone call that they spotted something suspicious looking on the x-ray of Zack's suitcase - it was some cables and camera accessories. It was on AOS....and they asked if someone would come meet them at the crew entrance and they would escort them to the luggage area to unlock the suitcase and take a look. I went down....no problem....no inconvenience on my part. I would much rather do that then have my luggage unlocked....
murr
We had seen this article last week. We were discussing it this past weekend. We used to use ordinary locks, one cruise, my bag came up to the room without a lock on it. We figured it was opened by security, but there was nothing missing and no one questioned us. We purchased TSA locks and have been using them for years. If they need me to open it, then find me, and we would open it together. We have decided never to put anything in our luggage that anyone would want. If they want me Fruit of the Looms, take em!!!!! We both take a carry on and it has all our valuables. If my bag is opened, for what ever reason, then I should be there.
KeithnRita
We've never locked our luggage. When we fly out of our little airport TSA swabs all the luggage for explosive residue. Like Tim, we don't put anything in our luggage we could not afford to lose. They no longer make the announcement for unattended luggage at our airport. Ellie
DUH! Rank us up there with the people who don't lock their luggage....at least we're in good company with K&R! Seriously though, I never put anything in the luggage that anyone would want.....only clothes & shoes....and the only valuables we take are jewelry and our camera....in carry-on bags. Never had anything missing....maybe just lucky!
cruisetarp
Ellie - I am not worried about someone taking something out of my luggage. (In fact on our way home they are free to take all the dirty laundry they want ) We also carry all our jewelry and valuables with us. Sadly, in this day and age, I'm more concerned about someone putting something IN my luggage when it is out of my sight and left open. murr
Could you imagine someone putting something into your luggage. If that happened after Carnival said not to lock the luggage, I would have a coronary. Then I would own Carnival. I can just imagine, The "Carnival Tim" as the next ship.
