Hi Guys: As you may recall we have been thinking about a stay over in HK during our India trip in Oct. However I am now thinking Singapore may be better in that it is less crowded, cleaner and easier to get around vs. HK. Now I'm having second thoughts. Has anyone whose ever been in both places care to comment? Please. Thank you. Larry :cool2:

Sorry I have only been to HK and found it very easy to get around. Since it was under British rule for so long everyone speaks English. Like most big cities it can be crowded but not bad. Cab service is very good and reasonable. They have great food and shows. I was surprised when we got to the airport there how careful they were not to allow drugs to come into there country. We had a great time there. I can't say about Singapore sorry. I hope this helps.

If you go to Singapore, don't spit on the sidewalk!! They have extremely strict laws and near-barbaric punishments. If you're just touristing you should do fine. If you go there, you may want to at least look into the Raffles. It's celebrated from colonial times.

Hong Kong has more to see and do. The crowds were not at all bad the last time I was there. Transportation is fast, cheap and efficient. It's been a decade since HK reverted to China, but the Chinese government has kept it pretty much as it was, in order to continue to reap the foreign exchange.

Hi there!

Hong Kong is much more scenic than Singapore. Singapore is clean and less crowded, but it has more of the feeling of a typical "City' and doesn't provide quite as much of a cultural feel. Hong Kong sits on hills and Singapore is flat. Don't get me wrong, Singapore is nice, but Hong Kong will feel like more of an experience, and it's very safe. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the replies. I had gotten the impression that HK was dusty and packed. However the responses here reassure me about how it actually is. I sort of wanted to see it vs. a "sterile" Singapore so to speak so thanks again. I think we can continue as planed to HK.
