So I was on Jury Duty yesterday, and they called in 20 jurors into the courtroom about a slip and fall case on a cruise ship. I don't know if I'm allowed to say which cruise line it was. They only interviewed 8 of the jurors and chose 6. Of the two that weren't chosen, one had been on 7 cruises, and the other works in the travel industry and has been on over 25 cruises. I WANTED TO BE A JUROR ON THIS CASE, AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN QUESTION ME. I'm an expert on cruising. They probably wouldn't have chosen me since I've been on 13, but wouldn't you think that they would choose those who have traveled on cruise ships? The ones that they chose had never been on a cruise ship.

I'm sure that the cruiseline attorney would love to have people with multiple cruises on the jury. You obviously love cruising, and probably like the cruiselines for giving you such a great vacation. The plaintive's laeyer, on the other hand, will never allow someone like yoyu on the jury.

The trial is public record. It is in open court. I'm sure that the trial was reported in some newspaper. I think that you would have no problem telling the cruiseline.

I'm so sorry..I know that feeling and with it being a cruise related case oh how fun!!!! My last trial the defendant declared bankruptcy halting everything and resulting in a mistrial. I had to keep from crying I was so upset.

Thanks Sailingrose, but I wonder why they didn't want the lady that had been on 7 cruises. The attorney with Oceania cruises was the one that got rid of the man that works in the travel industry and been on over 25 cruises. You would think that it would have been the other attorney. Shaunna, I'm so sorry about your client.

All of that is really odd unless they thought the experienced traveler would side with the slip and fall victim for some reason. That makes no sense which I know is what you are saying. strange indeed!

The prosecutor doesn't want someone with experience in the matter at hand. I was once kicked off the jury list for a case involving a back injury secondary to a rear end car accident and I think the reason is I am a nurse. Good thing for them too because right off I smelled a rat.
