Sarge6870
My brother and I bounced this back and forth yesterday. There were at 1 time, 2 formal nights on 7 day cruises. He says now there is only 1 on 7 day cruises. Any insight folks???
KeithnRita
Carnival is definately progressing away from formal nights. On our back to back cruises on the Fantasy very few folks dressed up for their 'Cruise Elegant' night.
DebbieandJerry
We did an 8-day on the Miracle November 2007 and there were 2 formal nights. On one of the nights, the couples next to us had the gall to come in shorts and button down shirts. Carnival is definitely moving away from "dressy-dressy", but they are still sticking with the no jeans and shorts in the dining room for evening meals. murr
I'll let you know, we are due to Sail on the Miracle on May 7 for the 8 day cruise. I do say good, less to pack!

Sorry tim, I got ya beat...were sailing on 4/17!!! How weird, my name is Tim too!! We also lived in Bayshore & Coram on L.I. before moving here to Florida. I worked in Manhasset in Nassau county as a Postal Worker. I just tried calling Carnival to ask them but were told I had to call "Group Services". She wouldn't even answer my SIMPLE question of the formal nights!!

I tried to go to the MDR one night on the Triumph back in 2007 in a tank top and they gave me a jacket to wear or told me I had to go put on a sleeved shirt. Hate to think that cruises are becoming "Fast-Food" cruises!!!
murr
Tim, That's weird, I feel I'm sending this to myself. Tim, We are planning on going to the steakhouse also, in addition to formal night. I'm not wearing a sports jacket but am wearing nice pants, shoes and a dress shirt. I haven't seen jackets or formal wear in a while. Definitly no Tux's. I usually go suit & Tie w/jacket to formal night(s). That's why I'm trying to see how many formal nights there are. Guess I'll call or e-mail my TA later. Ellie
We didn't like the lack of "elegance" on Carnival. I felt like I was hanging out at the local fish camp at times. Both of us enjoy getting dressed for dinner, even on non-formal nights. So we won't be sailing Carnival again.
