I do remember you saying you were taking a cruiseline tour there. We choose not to do an excursion in Bar Harbour because that is a tender port. Just too hard to coordinate. The tour I was referring to in the previous post was for Portland. I am just checking to make sure everyone is still going. FYI Marylou's husband Jim is back in the hospital. Please say a prayer for both of them.

1shipshape
I'm having Les take a bit of time tomorrow to look into what to do where. We're under two months til Sail Away and we need to get in gear. Just too many interruptions the past few weeks with Les being so sick. He is finally on the mend! I got him to stay home these 2 extra days... miracles never cease. So, I gave him some "Honey Do's" for tomorrow. I want to look into a Whale Watching tour in Portland probably. I've been looking into Boston a bit. I don't know if we need any reservations for the Freedom Trail but I need to investigate further. I looked at the Royal Caribbean site tonight for their menus for Portofino and Chops. Their wine packages seem very pricey. Beringers White Zin... $138 for 5 bottles... that's crazy. We pay $19.99 for a six-pack at Costcos. They'll have to live without our business in that department. I told Les we'd have to drink in each of the ports... he said we'll just buy a bottle to drink before coming aboard again... LOL.
deb1220
Toni, you don't need reservations for the Freedom Trail. It's more of a self-guided tour. It I remember correctly, there is a painted line on the sidewalk that you can follow. Hector, am I right about this? I do know that it's well worth the walk. Hey FYI You do not to make a reservation to do the freedom trail in Boston. There are 2 ways of doing the trail, 1 there is the guided tour that departs from the visitor's center at the Boston Commons, or 2 You can go to the visitor's center on State St ( near Fanuel Hall) an get a map with the points of interest along the trail, and folloow the red bricks on the ground, they will take you to all the spots . Wear confortable shoes either way a lot of walking involved. The guided tour of course has a nominal fee and the guides wear cool period costumes. There I hope that helps, any other question on Boston (Go Sox!) let me know.
deb1220
Thanks for the clarification, Hector. I knew the self-guided tour was red but I couldn't remember if it was painted or bricks. When we went, we started at Faneuil Hall. Probably what I found most fascinating was the cemetery - many famous and historic people buried there. 53 more days.....YAY!!! 1shipshape
Hector and Debbie, thanks for the information on the Freedom Trail. Do you know how long it will take if we take one of the guided tours? We'd like to have time to eat in Boston, too, maybe at the sandwich place or another place. How do we get from the ship to the Boston Commons? I'm glad we are touring with some experienced people who know Boston! Any help is appreciated. deb1220
Toni, I'd have to defer to Hector to answer your questions about the guided tour. I know, we just did it on our own and it took about 3 - 4 hours....and I don't think we were able to do the whole trail. We've only been to Boston once. I know Hector has been many times.
