every time i plan a vacation I want to know as much as possible in advance !

excursions are expensive and i don't want to waste my time and money on something lame.

i would very much appreciate information regarding excursions to Jamaica, Cayman Islands and Cozumel.

I think we will dive while in the Caymans, but i'm not sure what to do in Jamaica and Cozumel. I've been to the ruins enough times .. what else is there?

p.s. I may have a couple of 18 year olds in tow.

Welcome to CruiseCrazies Penny. I hope you will post often and become a regular here at the friendliest cruise site on the web.

In the Caymen Island, the stingrays are a bit attraction. Many tours offer snorkeling plus the stingrays.

In Cozumel we generally just take a cab to one of the beaches. We like Paradise beach but will be trying an all-inclusive beach this time but not until November. I don't know when you are going but I'll let you know about it when we get back.

For the adventurous types climbing Dunn River Falls in Jamaica is fun. Not sure what port you are going to but we did this tour from Ocho Rios. Just MHO but I would not venture too far in Jamaica on my own. Go with a group and stay with them.

Hope this helps. Sorry I didn't see your post earlier.

Welcome Penny!

OUr favorite excursion is the Twister to Isle de Pasion in Cozumel. You get to the island by high speed ciagar boat, which is a blast. The island has a white sand beach, chairs, hammocks, bar, restaurant, shops etc. Also have "water toys" for rental. You can lay back and relax or do what ever you want. It is not crowded. You get back to the ship by the same boat. I won't tell you were the name twister comes into this but it is fun!

We did the Conquest last year. In Jamaica, we did the "Plantation" excursion and it was great. You get to see all the native plants, trees, fruit (did you know there are over 17 varieties of pineapples???). Since it was about an hour ride on the bus from the ship, you got to see a lot of the "real" Jamaica. In the Cayman Islands, we took one of the snorkeling boats out to the reef and it was GREAT! Cozumel, we did a bike and snorkel excursion.... that is the only one we would not do again. Also, don't eat at the mexican restaurant on the pier right off the ship. A big rip off!

Penny, we love Cozumel and I think the 18 year olds will as well. First time there we rented jeeps and drove around the island (which is not very big). When we found a place where we wanted to stop, we did. We lounged in hammocks, we swam, we snorkeled, we ate and we drank. Our friends had their teenage kids with them at the time. We dropped the kids off at one of the bars after we did this. They stayed and partied for a little while and we continued on our trek of exploration. We ended up at a wonderful hotel/beach where they let us stay (no cost as long as we spent $$ on food, drink, souveners, etc.)

Another time we hooked up with some divers (we don't dive) and rented a dive boat that took us out to some incredible sites. We snorkeled and they dove. We had a blast.

Another time we took at taxi to Chan Kanab Park and had a fabulous time. We walked around the entire park. We snorkeled. We lounged on the beach. It's a bit crowded because it's a "tourist" park. But they have lots to do including swimming with the dolphins (which I think is a rip off).

Anyway, you can tell that we like Cozumel (we're headed back there this November) and that we create our own excursions everytime we are there.

In Cozumel, we did an excursion thru the cruiseline....it had the word "eco" in the title but can't remember exactly what it was called. We went by open-air bus on a small tour of the island, then on to a lighthouse for a quick stop. There were vendors selling crafts there. Then we went to a beach, where they had reserved chairs and beach umbrellas for us. You could snorkel with the group or just hang out on the beach. They showed us various things along the way, a small mayan ruins, the beach where the turtles lay their eggs and then people go out and mark the spots with signs, we saw a HUGE iguana. The tour guides were excellent - very humorous and they had coolers with beer, soda and water onboard. We have been on a lot of cruises and we all agreed it was one of the best excursiosn we have ever been on.
