Kelkel
We are going on our first cruise on Canival Fantasy to the Bahamas for 6 days, it's our 15th aniversary. I am wondering if anyone has any advice for excursions, on the ship advice, and just basically what to do and not to do! Thanks for any input. Peddler
What to do? ... enjoy yourself. What not to do? ... worry about what to do. Excursions? ... any ship sponsored for the first cruise.
DebbieandJerry
I hope your first cruise is as wonderful and memorable as our first cruise. Where all will you be stopping? Carnival posts their excursions on their website. If you give us an idea of what you like, I'm sure we can all come up with things that we like/don't like. Kelkel
We are stopping in Key West, Freeport, and Nassa we have a snorkling excursion planned in Freeport. We like to spend time together doing what ever. I was looking for ideas what to do at port with out a ship excursion planned. What are some of the things you all do? How do you get around? Is it cooler on the ocean in July? Are there any free things to do? I try to by a magnet where ever we go are there good places to shop? Are there any resturants anyone could recamend? Thanks for any help!
murr
Be prepared for a busy time in Nassau. The port can hold 6 ships at once. Don't know how many will be there when you are there but, we had all 6 back in May. Do the inexpensive tour of Atlantis. Then they give you a wrist band and you are free to roam. That's the only free thing to do. LOL!! We didn't go to the other ports but I hear Freeport is gorgeous. We only do Carnival. You will love it. Very laid back. Hope you have a blast. You will get hooked on cruising. You will want to go on other cruises so you can compare it to your first. When you return you must write and tell us all about it. KeithnRita
Welcome to the world of Cruising! We cruised on the Fantasy out of Mobile for New Year. The ship is now based in Charleston. Please come back and let us know how your first cruise went from this port. The food and service was excellent. Don't miss the Beetle's show--it was outstanding! The best advice we can give you is what others have said--ENJOY!

DebbieandJerry
We very seldom book ship excursions. We tend to favor giving our money to the locals. You can walk most anywhere. There will be loads of taxis. The best rule fo thumb when hiring a driver is you don't pay the driver until you are returned to the ship. Lots of times we'll say, "what will you charge us to drive around and show us your island (not the tourist traps)?" Then negotiate. Remember, they truly want the business. CruiseDork
A hard concept for many people is that in the Caribbean, everything is negotiable. Don't hesitate to haggle over prices whether for a cab or a souvenir in the straw market. Second, cab drivers in Nassau are crazy. Remember to keep breathing...
