Ooooohhhhhh! Aaaaaahhhhhh! Fireworks are exploding in my taste buds in anticipation of that sweet lobster. I've read about many people renting cars to go to L.L.Bean. Do you think it's worth the trip? I've also heard about lobster rolls. I'm unfamiliar with this territory so if you've eaten these, would you please explain what they are? Just the quaintness of the towns is going to be amazing.

I found a great website for tours out of Portland. We have never been on any tours here before - just kind of hung out downtown when we were there.

Also a link to a Dowtown Directory - shopping, etc...

Hello Everybody; Debb I checked out the site you posted here for tours of Portland. I particularly like the land & sea tour, it seems to cover a lot of the point of interest for not a lot of money. Do you know if anyone is doing this excursion ?. I am thinking of doing it myself, it sounds like it has a lot of photo opportunities.

Hector - I have tried finding a private tour in Portland but because our group is so small the price is very high. I think the land sea tour your saw would be perfect for our group. I'll post the information below.

PORTLAND, MAINE - Saturday - Sept. 17th - 7AM to 6PM

The Land and Sea tour offered in Portland looks like a fun day. It includes a 90 minute trolley tour, along with a 90 lighthouse cruise with some time in between the 2 for lunch or shopping. I would suggest we take the 9:30 trolley tour which will leave us back in the downtown area around 11 where you can shop, eat or even return to the ship if you desire. The first cruise leaves at 1:30 (it is a short walk from where we are docked) which will return us to the dock by 3 - still leaving plenty of time to do whatever you please. Price is a very reasonable $35 PP and you can read all about it at : portlanddiscovery.com - click on land and sea tour.

Who's ready to have a fun day in Portland?

Thoughts?
