rogue
I just read an article about saving lounges on a cruiseship. We all know that the rules for saving seats is rarely enforced. The thought is that there may, sometime in the future be a charge for chair rentals around the pools. Ships are already charging for adult-only areas to lounge in. Do you think that rental of prime pool chairs will come about? What other things will cruiselines charge for in the Future?
DebbieandJerry
Just read an article where the author thinks cruiselines will nickle and dime for pretty much everything (they compared it to the airlines). The jist of the article was that cruising will become a-la-carte. I hope not. That is one of the huge reasons why we cruise. One stop shopping! And at a great price. But think about it, folks pay for "specialty dining" and don't bat an eyelash at the extra cost. Folks pay for "tips in advance". Sure there was squalking, but they still pay for it. And, we all paid for the fuel surcharge when it was there!
Shaunna
Good points! I'd probably pony up but wouldn't like it. Honestly that seems going a little too far.
DebbieandJerry
I would most likely pay for the a-la-carte items as well, especially if it became the norm. And, I wouldn't like it either.
rogue
Just remember, nothing is free. For every item that you get for free on a cruise, but never use, you still pay for it in your cruise fare. If a cruise does become a la cart, then you will only pay for what you use. In the long run, it may be cheaper, therefore you'll be able to cruise more often
hazelson
Once they start charging for toilet paper I'm out lol
tljones
Well it is not any different then when you stay at a hotel/resort at the beach. Around the pool chairs are free but if you want one on the beach in the prime areas then it cost. If curise lines start charging for lounge chairs around the pool maybe can perpay upfront like the tips and you have a place reserved during the whole cruise. I guess can look at this as a bright spot.
